There’s lots going on right now in the world. There’s an election in the U.S. coming up (see below for a video for some thoughts I have on that).
And, it’s Halloween.
Today is also known as Samhain in Celtic/Druid tradition, and soon marks Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), in which deceased loved ones are honored in Mexico.
It’s interesting that these holidays are so close to each other. One might wonder why?
Well, it’s said that these ancient cultures in Britain and Latin America knew that during this period of autumn is a time when the veil between worlds is thin. It’s when spirits are closer to the Earth plane for humans to contact (and vice versa).
It’s also curious that Samhain turned into Halloween, which has become something quite scary, and even disturbing, with some of the decorations found in stores (I had to protect myself with a bubble of light from what I saw in the Spirit of Halloween store that my son dragged me to).
Now why might this be?
There are many reasons as to why, in my view, that this time of year has become so creepy and not so sacred.
Namely, in my view, a certain prevailing church changed the focus from Samhain to Halloween in an effort to control the populace by using fear to squelch intuition (or a connection with the spirit realm).
Fear is a very useful tool to keep the third eye chakra (the seat of intuition) blocked.
And when our intuition is blocked, we don’t know who we really are, which are Divine beings of light, and we can be more easily controlled!
This is all very sad, and yet humans ARE awakening and opening their intuition.
The other truth around what this time of year was once about has to do with our ancestors.
With the creepiness and commercialism that have taken over the spirit of Samhain in particular, we have strayed so far from the original intent of this time of year: to receive wisdom and information from those in our family who have gone before us.
(Something worth noting here is that some of us may not actually want to connect with some of our deceased loved ones, especially those who have harmed us or others in our family. And yet, there’s probably some sort of healing that can be done with them. More on that in a moment.)
Thankfully, many people are changing this by connecting in with their ancestors more and more.
In this excerpt from my book, Tools for the Awakening Soul, you’ll learn a bit about how to rekindle a connection with your ancestors, for the healing of your bloodline and of yourself:
While you can connect with your ancestors anytime you choose, the Akashic Records can be a wonderful place to connect with your ancestors.
In this age of spiritual awakening, many ancestors are with us to help us break long-standing patterns (of suffering, sadness, etc.) in our bloodlines. If you experience depression, it might run in your family. Emotional states like depression are legitimate energetic vibrations that can be passed down genetically. The good news is that when you start to notice the pattern, you can then set the intention to break it. This is no small feat, as the tides moving in a certain direction in our bloodlines can be strong. Reversing this flow of energy can feel like paddling upstream. However, the light we are currently receiving on Earth is very conducive to a positive shift occurring in our families. We can make different choices than our family members that came before us did, and alter the flow!
In your Akashic Records, or by setting an intention in meditation, you can connect with generations of ancestors appearing around you. They are here to help you learn more about patterns in your family. By bringing your awareness to the issue at hand, they can help you break these patterns by offering ideas and insights. Your deceased loved ones also may share with you the specific soul purpose of your lineage, which your ancestors may or may not have been successful in achieving in their lifetimes. As is part of the human experience, they probably made mistakes. They hope you can learn from their mistakes so you can make different choices!
Set an intention to connect with your ancestors around a specific issue, or simply ask to learn more about what your ancestors want to share with you.
If you want to do connect more deeply with your ancestors in the Akashic Records, I invite you to join me for an upcoming class where you’ll learn how to read your own Records. This can be a transformational and deeply healing way to break patterns, to forgive and to cut cords.
Or, if you want to try connecting with ancestors right now, you can begin by bringing in light through meditation, and then writing a “pretend letter” to your ancestors. This can start the process.
Either way, I hope that you find this time a year to be an opportunity for connection and healing in some way with those who came before you in your bloodline.
